Straps:
Ensure your straps lay comfortably on top of your shoulders. If your straps dig in to your shoulders you probably need to go down a band size. If your straps are constantly slipping off of your shoulders, your band is probably too small. If you have sloped shoulders, try a racerback bra or a style with convertible straps. Remember, 90% of support should come from the band not the straps.
Cup Coverage:
Your cups should lie comfortably and smoothly against your breasts. If you don't fill out the cups or there is wrinkling and gaping, you need a smaller cup size. If your cups are overflowing or dig into your breasts, you need to go up in cup size.
Underwire:
Underwire should lie flat against your skin and encircle your breasts. If your underwire is poking you in the arm or digging into your breast tissue, you may be wearing a cup size that's too small or the wrong style for your breasts. Keep in mind that breast placement and shape can affect how bras with underwire fit.
Band:
Your bra band should rest firmly and comfortably against your back. If it digs in painfully, try loosening it. If it's already on the last hook, you probably need to go up a band size. If the band is riding up your back, try tightening it. If the band still fits loosely, the size you're wearing is too big. Bra bands tend to stretch over time with wear. Your bra should fit firmly on the last hook when new.
